FAQ Speech Pathology (Speech Therapy)
What does a Speech Pathologist do?
We support children with speech clarity, language development, social communication, stuttering, literacy, and early communication skills (gestures, first words, play).
When should I worry about my child's speech?
If your child is hard to understand, has a small vocabulary, is not combining words by 2 years, struggles to follow instructions, or shows frustration when communicating — an assessment is recommended.
Do you work with bilingual children?
Yes! We specialise in bilingual development and support families speaking English + Cantonese/Mandarin. We help children grow in both languages.
Do I need a referral?
No. You can self-refer. A GP referral is only needed if you want to claim Medicare (CDM plan).
How often will my child need Speech Therapy?
Most children start weekly or fortnightly. We adjust based on progress and goals, and we explain everything after the first assessment.
